Community Update – Manchester City Centre

On Friday 21 November 2025, at approximately 1500 hours, PC Riaz and PC Gregory were on foot patrol in Market Street and the Arndale Shopping Centre when they supported store security during a shoplifting incident.

A male was detained after attempting to leave a store with items that had not been paid for. Security staff and officers acted swiftly to prevent his escape, and stolen goods valued at £182.99 were recovered.

The male was arrested, charged with theft, and has since been bailed with strict conditions not to enter the Arndale Shopping Centre.

This outcome reflects the strong partnership between Greater Manchester Police and local businesses, working together to protect livelihoods and keep our city centre safe.
